Track Name: Last Chance featuring Ef "Cuttin'" Figgs
I can still remember
tender moments in time
rewinding memories sublime
through the windows of my mind
divine winds align
careen, peacefully wind
take me back when I was young
to the slum in which I'm from
I trudge this crooked path
looking back on what it was
deep within the vacant lots
where the powerlines hum
barbed wire, broken glass
a graffitied underpass: nothing's promised
today can offer nothing that lasts
I'm entranced by how it pass
that river flowing fluid
the weight of my experience
embedded in this music
healing therapeutic
yet rooted in how we use it
reusing all my patterned behaviors
became abusive
caught between domestic disputes
and student truants
alcohol influenced and slid me
into oblivion
oblivious that ignorance
could never be bliss
there's no time for looking back
only time to admit

And, of recently I've lost
some of those of whom I sought
to walk and make amends
for wrongs I won't defend
reflective I build a bridge
to nowhere I could relive
falling in and out of consciousness
at funerals for them
blend coffins and condolences
coordinating memorials
flowers and pictorials
taking in the scenarios
scenes involving burials
have us bear the unbearable
pain, uncomparable strain
we push to carry on
a silent prayer on a dead wind gone
returns and resonates, soft
off eternity's walls
a god deaf and blind
pauses deeply inside
perplexed at every human heart
unprepared for new life
all at the same time
an infant opens its eyes
undefined by the depression
where others would turn to suicide
if I die tonight
with these words on my lips
know there's no time for looking back
only time to admit

They say when one door closes
another one opens
I dedicate this song
to rapper, mentor, and good friend -- Ralph Prater
May you rest in peace
Keep it moving
Track Name: Lucid Dreams
Welcome to a dreamscape
of fantasy and landscape
luminescent moon rock
hard as the human heart
sharp as the soft touch
reminding you what love was
warm as the thin blood
that spiraled down the bathtub
empty as the chakra
belonging to the monster
hollowed out by drugs and the drama
listen, forever unforgiven
and impossible to feel it
pain is all that I have left
to prove I'm living, dance
beneath the pouring rain
to the music in your brain
to the rhythms that these
sentences contain, calm seas
washing over me, foaming tides
pulling deeper to the requiem
where I preside, I'm alive
moving forward on the black night
reflecting on the advice
the picture in my mind
of every time I said those goodbyes

Can't come to terms
with the words or the death
unsure of if the words
are for the dead or myself
nothing, only memories
I drink until they're real to me
dimensions in their imagery
surround and imprison me
belittled by its mystery
I'm victim to its mimicry
simple as it's meant to be
lost to the complexity
I give just what it is to me
levitating weightlessly
I'm nowhere momentarily
when all is truly near to me
we often have to let go
of what we cannot control
scream my words into tomorrow
just to hear them echo

And level off and think back
to all was really in tact
laying pennies on the train tracks
to watch them flat and expand
before my uncle relapsed
and moved in our house
bringing women in and out
I listen through the walls
my mother was a song
in the beauty of her youth
when I reminisce I imagine 1992
my father's on the grind
always working all the time
I walk about unsupervised

I rhyme for that past life
lucid dreams on black ice
sliding in the twilight
nothing truly finite
no punchlines, no pyrite
no fools gold, no limelight
I do this for the love
the only thing I feel is real

Some see me as a martian
a rapper wearing cardigans
but music is my oxygen
healing broken promises
I remember all of it
when no one's left recalling it
talking to myself in the shadows
of my consciousness

I rhyme for that past life
lucid dreams on black ice
sliding in the twilight
nothing truly finite
no punchlines, no pyrite
no fools gold, no limelight
I do this for the love
the only thing I feel is real
